7 things you should know before buying nutritional supplements online
A true buying experience for nutritional supplements online. How did shipping and customs clearance work? What are the full costs until received?
Supplements are one of the products that many people are trying to buy at the present time due to the global trend in the concern for fitness and health.
But it is one of the products that have somewhat complicated procedures, especially in Egypt due to the current conditions, as are cosmetics.
I recently purchased some nutritional supplements and they were estimated to be about six and a half kilograms, to try it out due to the many questions related to this topic.
Also, one of my friends recently bought nutritional supplements through a shopping site, and the weight of his shipment was estimated to be about five kilograms, that is, it was for personal use.
It was shipped by DHL courier company, and I shipped via Aramex Shop and Ship.
I was following the shipment through the Shop and Ship app naturally and easily, but my friend was long overdue for the expected period and whenever he tracked his shipment it showed that she had already arrived in Cairo.
It remained like this without the shipment reaching his home city, and he decided to go to the customs himself to ask about his shipment to discover that it was seized by the customs.
Are there laws determining commercial quantity and personal quantity?
On the appointed day, my friend traveled to Cairo heading to the airport customs where his shipment arrived, and he did not expect that the reason for the seizure of his cargo was what the employee said, “The parcel was counted as a commercial parcel because it exceeded two kilograms.
Unfortunately, this is the case with many personal shipments that are sometimes estimated to be commercial, and sometimes a double fee of two or three times the price of the product is imposed.
In fact, I do not personally have a clear answer to this question! And until I find the answer I give you some advice from the two experiences to avoid such problems as possible.
7 things you should know before buying nutritional supplements online
1# In terms of quantity, you can buy a quantity of up to ten kilograms, because it will be held in any case and counted commercially, but try not to exceed the quantity as a kind of precaution.
2# Shipping is preferred by Aramex, or its Shop & Ship service, so you do not have to go to customs on your own, as other post companies often do not clear the shipment on your behalf.
But Aramex does this and will tell you to seize your shipment and send an authorization form via e-mail that you sign and resend, along with a copy of the card or passport and the commercial invoice.
It is taken into account that shipments that are 21 days old from the date of arrival without being cleared are disposed of by customs.
3# Some or all packages are opened by the Ministry of Health upon presentation to take a sample or the like for analysis.
4# Products can be shipped by regular mail, which may save a lot of shipping costs, but you will have to travel to clear the shipment in this case.
5# The bid for the Ministry of Health is estimated at about two hundred pounds, the value of the customs tax is 13%, and the sales tax is 5%.
6# The period for clearing the shipment and obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Health may reach two working weeks from the date of sending the required documents.
7# The period of receiving the shipment from the date of shipment until it reaches your door may take about two months.
After a long wait, the shipment arrived safely at the door of the house, but I found some packages open and a few spilled out, and I paid the amount shown in this message that I received from Aramex.
On the other side, there are those who aspire to import nutritional supplements for the purpose of trade, but in this case there are different methods and procedures that we will have for a later article, God willing.
